Scotlander is based just outside of Edinburgh, providing a convenient starting point for exploring the Scottish Highlands, Islands and the rest of the UK.

What are your operating hours?

We operate 7 days a week and aim to be as flexible as possible with campervan collections and returns. Our general operating hours are between 09:00 and 16:00.

Are weekend collections and returns available?

Yes, we operate 7 days a week including weekends, subject to availability and prior arrangement.

Can I contact you during my trip?

Yes, if you have any issues or questions during your trip you are welcome to contact us and we will do our best to assist.

Do I need to book in advance?

Advanced booking is always recommended, especially during peak travel seasons and summer months in Scotland.

Can I leave my own vehicle when collecting a campervan?

Please contact us in advance if you require vehicle parking during your campervan hire and we will do our best to assist where possible.

What payment methods do you accept?

Bookings can be made online through our booking system, although we also accept bank transfer and cash payments on collection by prior arrangement.

Campervan Hire Questions

Are all of your campervans automatic?

Yes, all of our campervans are automatic transmission vehicles, making them easier and more comfortable to drive around Scotland.

Is driver insurance included with campervan hire?

Yes, driver insurance cover for eligible drivers aged 21 and over is included with every campervan hire.

Is unlimited mileage included?

Yes, unlimited mileage is included as standard with all campervan hires.

What is included with the campervans?

Our campervans come equipped with many of the essentials needed for touring Scotland, including cooking equipment, outdoor seating, USB charging, electric hookup cable and more. Full details can be found on our “What’s Included” page.

Are the campervans easy to drive?

Yes, our campervans are designed to remain compact, practical and easy to drive while still offering comfortable touring and sleeping space.

Can I take the campervan to the Scottish Islands?

Yes, travel to the Scottish Islands is generally permitted, however we ask that you inform us in advance if you plan to travel by ferry during your trip.

Can I travel throughout the UK?

Yes, our campervans can be used throughout the UK unless otherwise agreed in advance.

Is roadside assistance included?

All of our automatic campervans include breakdown and roadside assistance cover as standard.

What happens if the campervan breaks down?

In the event of a breakdown, roadside assistance details will be provided with your campervan hire documentation. Please contact us as soon as possible if any issues arise during your trip.

Is bedding included?

Bedding and sleeping bags are not included as standard, although they may be available as optional extras.

Are pets allowed in the campervans?

Please contact us before booking if you wish to travel with pets.

Is smoking allowed inside the campervans?

Smoking and vaping are not permitted inside any of our campervans.

Can additional drivers be added?

Additional drivers may be added subject to insurance approval and additional charges where applicable.

What documents do I need when collecting the campervan?

Drivers will need to provide a valid driving licence along with identification and any additional documentation required for insurance purposes.

Outdoor Equipment Hire Questions

Can outdoor equipment be hired without a campervan?

Yes, outdoor equipment can be hired separately without requiring a campervan booking.

What outdoor equipment do you offer?

We offer a range of practical outdoor and camping equipment suitable for casual camping, road trips and exploring Scotland’s outdoors.

Do you offer discounted equipment hire with campervans?

Yes, discounted rates may be available when outdoor equipment is hired alongside a campervan booking.

Is camping equipment included with campervans?

Basic cooking and touring equipment is included with our campervans, however additional camping equipment and outdoor gear can also be hired separately.

Do I need to clean equipment before returning it?

We ask that all hired equipment is returned in a clean and reasonable condition after use.

What happens if equipment is damaged during hire?

Please contact us as soon as possible if any hired equipment becomes damaged during your trip.

Can I hire equipment for festivals or events?

Some equipment may be suitable for festivals and outdoor events. Please contact us before booking to discuss your requirements.

What collection and return times apply to equipment hire?

Equipment collection and return times are generally arranged during our standard operating hours between 09:00 and 16:00.
